Thirst for Life

I’ve lived in five countries now and still there are some things that never change. Light is just as wholesome and hopeful everywhere. Food and drink are just as necessary and delightful. People are just as complicated and marvellous.

Everywhere I carry with me a deep thirst, a thirst for life to the fullest. It is filled in so many ways, beautiful ways, through art, poetry, relationships, laughter, nature, learning, and yet there is a yearning still present too. In my daily seeking I find God somewhere at the core of it all. If God is a well then I keep drawing from him and trying to find anew each day what it means to be satisfied.

Whether it is the same for you or not, this blog is for anyone who like me, finds herself constantly thirsty. Maybe one day we’ll find what we’re seeking, and be fully satisfied.

“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live…” (Isaiah 55:1-3, Bible)
